Discover the wonders of Alicante in the best possible way—by car!
Car rental is the most convenient way to explore the eastern part of Spain and stunning beaches along the Costa Blanca.
The Alicante region is a popular tourist destination. Therefore, we recommend planning more time for your road trips, especially during the summer. If you wish to drive along the coast, it’s a good idea to rent an SUV or a more spacious vehicle for maximum comfort.
Some driving regulations in Spain are good to know in advance. First, when going to the beach, avoid parking near the sand. If the area happens to be under environmental protection, parking there can result in a significant fine. Second, in Spain, it is not allowed to drive without wearing a shirt, while being barefoot, wearing flip-flops, or having one hand or arm outside the vehicle. Being a tourist is typically not an excuse for the Spanish police. So, if you're driving, save your flip-flops for the beach.
The speed limit in urban areas across Spain is typically 50 km/h (31 mph). On motorways, the maximum speed limit is 120 km/h (75 mph), and on rural roads, it's 90 km/h (55 mph).
