Renting a car with the Liigu app—how does it work?
It's like having your own car waiting for you at Barcelona airport!
With Liigu, there is no need to visit a car rental desk. We put our customers' convenience first, which is why you'll only need your smartphone to find the car and start your rental. We always bring the car as close to the arrivals terminal as possible and provide detailed directions on where to find it. So after landing, you can go directly to the parking lot and drive off. This saves you a lot of time and hassle, as Barcelona El Prat (BCN) Airport is huge and always busy.
Need a car in Barcelona city centre? We've got you covered. Liigu cars are equipped with automatic transmission, making navigating the charming but narrow streets easier.
Travelling with family? We’ve got child seats for a safe journey with your little ones. Well-behaved pets are welcome too. All our rental cars are carefully cleaned and disinfected. Additionally, for unexpected changes of plans, we offer free cancellation until 24 hours before your pick-up.
Discover the wonders of Barcelona in the best possible way—by car!
Car rental is the most convenient way to explore the Catalonia region. You can save a lot of valuable time by taking a car directly from Barcelona Airport and driving to the city centre.
You can always expect heavy traffic in and around Barcelona, especially during the rush hours between 8 and 10 AM, and 6:30 and 8:30 PM. Crowds and motorbikes, as well as many narrow one-way streets, make driving in the city centre quite challenging. To help you focus on the road and ensure a stress-free trip, we have equipped all Liigu cars with navigation systems.
For driving in Barcelona city centre, we recommend renting a smaller car. While there are many parking lots in the city centre, the parking spaces can be quite tight. If you plan to drive to the mountains near Barcelona or visit the beaches along the Costa Brava and Costa Dorada, it’s a good idea to rent an SUV or a more spacious vehicle for your comfort.
The speed limit in urban areas across Spain is typically 50 km/h (31 mph). On motorways, the maximum speed limit is 120 km/h (75 mph), and on rural roads, it's 90 km/h (55 mph). It’s smart to avoid speeding near Barcelona, as even a slight violation of the limits can result in a significant fine.
