Discover the south of Spain in the best possible way—by car!
Renting a car is the most convenient way to explore the south of Spain and the stunning beaches along the Costa del Sol.
The Málaga region is a popular tourist destination. We recommend allowing extra time for your road trips, especially during the summer months. You may also want to consider rush hour in and around Málaga city proper. From 8:30 to 9:30am, 1:30 to 3:00pm, and 7:00 to 9:00pm, traffic jams are more common. The historical centre of Málaga is car-free, and street parking in the vicinity is limited. To avoid the time and hassle of searching for a parking space, we recommend using public car parks, though they can sometimes be pricey.
For added comfort on your journey to the famous Caminito del Rey walkway and beaches near Málaga, consider renting an SUV or a larger vehicle.
The speed limit in urban areas across Spain is typically 50 km/h. The motorways have a maximum speed limit of 120 km/h, and the rural roads have a speed limit of 90 km/h. Even though locals may tend to drive fast and occasionally run a red light, it's wise to adhere to speed limits near Málaga. Exceeding the limits by even a small amount can result in significant fines.
